Pedagogy Creed
I believe that the primary role of education is to support the total development of each and every child. This development will meet its maximum potential when achieved through the assimilation of our physical, emotional, social, aesthetic and cultural values with academic discipline.
No child is exactly the same. Each year, teachers encounter children of various backgrounds, experiences, and different styles of learning in their classrooms. I believe it is important to recognize that every child has the ability to learn and learns differently. Education should support the development of every child in a progressive approach that will assist the understanding and application the child will need and use in their future to empower themselves to develop moral fiber, explore new ideas, and socially interact with current issues that lies ahead.
As individuals and society members through education, every child has the ability to become achievers who demonstrates understanding of academic core concepts and principles; involved and independent thinkers who make decisions reflecting responsible choices to take reasonable risks and contribute to the community; proficient communicators who express thought, feelings and ideas; and passionate learners who mentally, physically, socially, and emotionally strives towards lifelong learning.
Our most treasured resources are our children who will shape the future. School are filled with children of various backgrounds, experiences, and a different method of learn and must be committed to provide our children a positive and active learning environment and endowing them with opportunity to achieve our community’s expected student learning outcomes.
School is a place to encourage learning and foster student independence. Today, our children not only perceive schools as a place of learning and freedom but another obstacle in life to overcome. Schools should be a place where our children will acquire all the meaningful and necessary tools in preparation for the future. Teachers should prepare our children for the future by providing more interaction and involvement activities that makes real life connections and sparks their personal interest. Our children will succeed in the future with the tools and skills, through education, as long as the knowledge they have learned in school is meaningful, taught from past and present experiences, and the information can be carried and applied to real life situations.
In the school and children’s education, I believe the role of teachers are to create a safe learning environment; reinforce strengths and constructively correct weaknesses; provide and evaluate the children’s work thoughtfully, honestly and fairly; know the children as individuals in the classroom and outside of the classroom; teach and enforce school rules fairly and consistently, and facilitate learning in the classroom. Every child deserves every ounce of knowledge that would benefit the needs of our future and the future of everyone around them. The most effective way is to build and maintain strong bonding relationships of the community and those around us. Educating our children requires an active, cooperative effort involving the students, school, parents, and the community at large.
I believe that every child’s first educator is their parents. Parental and community involvement play a critical role in the educational outcome of children. Children whose parents and members of the community involved are more likely to perform better in schools, graduate and pursue higher education.
The school, home, and community collaboratively play a significant role to every child’s education to succeed and prepare for their future.
